LinkedIn didn’t originally have a feed. Once it was implemented more and more people started using it as face book.

In the last year I’ve seen:

  • A video of 3 people killed by a lightening strike, with some weird business wisdom tag line underneath.

  • Many, many people arguing about the existence of Israel.

  • Lots of anti woke “it wasn’t like that in my day, bunch of snow flakes” comments.

Back in the day you’d have to join a group to post something. The groups were all related to business concepts I.e. Dev Ops in Asia.

Now it’s a shit show that should be avoided.

I only use it for job adverts these days.

That site was originally meant to be like a directory for professionals and business people no? Like it was never supposed to be a social media site where people argued on comments over politics and bullshit. I feel like I remember when the site used to be a professional platform, wtf happened there?

It still is for most users. Just now an algorithm exists to make the feed basically useless, but it’s still good for building a professional network.

There seems to be this disinformation campaign trying to spin it that the reason the US government has an issue with TikTok is because they don’t want the free expression of ideas. What’s going out on TikTok isn’t what the government cares about. It’s that the company is controlled by the Chinese government and the potential use of it for spying and major privacy violations is significant.
