Well, where’s the ant list? I am intrigued!
Well if we have to do it ourselves…
- Fungus-growing ants (obvious pick)
- Slaver ants
- Formica rufa (spits acid from its butt)
- Saharan Silver Ant (adapted to the scorching sun)
- Cephalotes (Door head ant)
- Bullet ant
- Giant Amazonian Ants (possibly largest workers)
- (some tiny ant?)
…
- Honeypot ant (10. because they should make the list but I don’t want to look at them)
edit: added Formica rufa, Saharan silver ant, Cephalotes
Mystrium camillae: They snap their mandibles to produce the fastest movement of an animal appendage, at 90 meters/second.
And they’re from the subfamily of Dracula ants, which drink what’s essentially the blood of their babies.
That one with the head like a penny and uses it like a door is pretty cool.
How about the Saharan Silver Ant? They are specifically adapted to not get cooked in the sunny desert!
