The one on one exchanges continue to be a highlight of the show, between Talos and Gracvik as well as Talos and Fury.

This particular episode felt very episodic in nature (one singular episodic antagonist meant to advance the overarching plot further) alongside the typical cliffhanger moment.

The reference to another knife in hand moment in a different blockbuster action film was only made less squick by how much less time was spent on it.

By and large its probable the series, like so many others, will bulldoze headlong into a conclusion that will feel a bit rushed if we’re getting breather episodes that are intended to be a microcosm of the series’ plot as a whole, but don’t really advance much other than more slices of brilliant character interaction. Which is great and all, but perhaps there’s a lingering sense of “why should I care” echoing through the story.

I liked the moments between Talos and Fury in the trip to Fairbank’s home as well as the tension when they were interrogating Fairbank’s.

I’ve been enjoying seeing those two together. They’ve obviously been friends for a very long time, and it’s been cool to see how they’re relationship has happened behind the scenes. We obviously knew fury had a good network of spies, this just adds a new understanding to how he knew all of everyone’s secrets and rose to power.

The episode just felt so painful to watch, just things happening without meaning, purely to advance the plot and get it from point A to point B. I just find myself not caring about any of it. The conversations and the dialogue all feel forced, like it’s all meant to induce suspicion and make us question peoples’ motives, but there’s not been any buildup in tension for any of it, so none of it matters.

Also, Nick Fury is apparently the most hated person in the MCU, everybody that knows him, hates his guts.

I really don’t get why they turned Nick Fury into an insufferable asshole hated by everyone

It’s Disney just trashing their own property, they’re apparently incapable of shitting all over themselves the longer they manage a franchise (see Star Wars). And what’s dumb is he’s not even the one that should get blamed for anything! It was literally all on Capt Marvel to find a planet for the Skrulls, she spent 20–30 years putzing around doing who-knows-what, the best Fury could do was to try to keep a lid on things at home. He had no choice in the matter, it’s not like he had a spaceship to go look himself.

And I feel like they’ve really left a big question mark with whatever he was doing in space, that’s just dangling out there getting ignored. I’ll be even more severely disappointed if they don’t answer that with this series.

Feels like a giant plot hole with “Bob” trading Talos for the kid?? Not sure why he cared, sure he’s innocent but I have a plane to blowup. Just felt weird.

It is weird. The Skrulls under Gravik are trying to kick off WW3 to kill all humans and take over the planet. Why would he care about the child of the human he’s impersonating?

I assumed the kid was probably a Skrull too, potentially his kid. It’s a jump to make without any evidence though.

It would make more sense for the kid to be a Skrull. Deep cover missions would probably work best if the whole family was replaced. Just seems weird that if that was the case, they wouldn’t have the kid transform back into their true form too.

Yeah, it seemed like he cared about the kid. Maybe it’s because part of the new skrull mind cloning thing makes you feel like the person you’re mimicking?
