I saw this random r/ModSupport post and was surprised that an admin accidentally revealed a random admin account.
Reddit got caught unprepared by the protests, they are probably working on a shadow mod feature and forgot to hide it from the log. Deleting an already removed post is a fairly inconspicuous way to demo the feature.
After mods, bans, and shadow bans, we have shadow mods. We should have expected it.
This sounds like the progression of a story arc in a terrible anime, honestly.
โIโll let them know that the username is appearing in the log.โ
Note it wasnโt: โthat shouldnโt have been doneโ or โthat was due to XYZโ, nope it was a โcrap, you shouldnโt have seen that in the log, weโll make sure it doesnโt show up next timeโ
Not quite. This isnโt an uncommon thing and appears in the log under the name โAnti-Evil Operationsโ (yes, really). In this case, it appears the admin probably didnโt activate their admin status properly or something.
It isnโt that they want to hide the action, itโs just not meant to appear under a personal username.
