I’m only using connect because it has the hide read/scrolled past post feature. With all the other apps I’ve tried and I’ve tried them all they always show the exact same post for like a day straight because they don’t go away when I have already looked at them.

How do you do that? hide posts you’ve already seen

Tap the hamburger icon, select settings, enable “Hide read post”, save settings.

What makes boost so good?

It’ll be different for everyone but it’s just the Reddit app the had the best layout for me, it had all the features I liked, multiple accounts, posts reliably marked as read while scrolling and then you could hide read posts whenever you want with a button (connect does it automatically so you sometimes lose posts you’d rather see again) You can choose the content type you want to see, I’d often hide albums/images so I only see GIFs/vids for… reasons.

Edit: the comment problem is already fixed in an update, I’m not dissing Connect. It’s very feature rich already. I just want what I know better.

Easier OP and myself identifiers in comments, right now on Connect I’m really struggling to find my own comments in threads because I just have the same colour as everyone else. Notifications actually showed you the context when you clicked on them, with connect I’m having to click the post I got a comment on, then go and find my comment (harder without myself identifiers) and then figure out which comment was new.

It’s probably just because I’m familiar with it as I’m sure a lot of Reddit 3PA’s had similar features but the layout felt very readable while also being minimalist. Whatever features Connect has right now, Boost has but it’s better and has more features. But I understand Connect is still pretty new. But I’m hoping Boost releases as just a port of the Reddit version with all the features already baked in because they’ve done it before, just changing where it loads the content from.

It was my primary way of accessing Reddit for over 5 years I guess. I’m on android, so I don’t think boost is out for lemmy yet for me.

I went to the playstore, and looked for boost. Although it’s not yet released, it already lists the data that will be collected (quite a lot).

Meanwhile jerboa states that it collects and shares no data. It has room for improvement, but it’s fully functional and fits my needs for browsing Lemmy.

Connect doesn’t collect or share any data either. I’ve personally had a better experience with Connect than I had with Jerboa.

I only had issues with jerboa when they were unable to update the instance. Now that that’s done it’s been fine for me.

I like the way jerboa handles the UI better than Connect. I’ve used WefWef as well and I keep coming back to jerboa.

Jerboa seems to work fine for me. Reviews complained about minor issues and crashing but I haven’t experienced any of that.

Didn’t have any crashes, the only small issue I have is that scrolling isn’t always very smooth, although it’s better with the latest release.

For me, scrolling was very laggy on jerboa. Liftoff is silky smooth.

When I first started it was super buggy and couldn’t even login properly but checked in after a while and its working pretty well now. Ig those are old reviews before they fixed all the issues.

Wewef is my go to. It is so far the fastest and it gets updates frequently. Also love the swipe to vote and swipe to replay.

Its very basic. The mobile web version has loads more feature

I’ll use it when it already has block user and block community.

Btw. Connect for lemmy has block Instance . The only current app to have that feature as far as i know

So far I’ve been using mainly jerboa and connect, swapping between the two when one gets annoying.

Jerboa has the best features and customizing, but is also the worst. I get more errors on Jerboa that I can handle.

Jerboa and Connect have been mostly stable for me (not without bugs). My biggest problem is the beehaw.org instance really really likes to 502

Jerboa often just crashes whenever I go to save an image, that’s the main problem I’ve had with it.

Omg same but Connect is horrible so I uninstalled it. Only tried it because Lemmy had a bug and wouldn’t work for a bit.

Connect has been updating so frequently that every problem I’ve had with it ends up getting fixed the next day.
