Both Biden and Trump are borderline senile fossils that shouldn’t be trusted with the Western economy and nearly half of the planet’s nuclear weapons stockpile. Either candidate poses a very legitimate argument for maximum age limits to be imposed on future presidential candidates.
This isn’t out of any dislike towards the elderly. People’s mental facilities tend to decline substantially when they get to that age and that proves detrimental when making economic and political decisions. We saw the same thing with Ronald Reagan in the later years of his tenure.
When it’s a two-horse race between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, society loses.

I absolutely think biden’s too old, but in this specific clip it kind of seems like he is making fun of Trump’s “I am the least racist person ever” response.
By mid 19th Century standards (the Civil Rights movement wouldn’t come until roughly a century later), wasn’t Lincoln progressive? Not only for leading the US through a civil war brewed partially over slavery, but also abolishing it?

I don’t think people are all that left. I think conservative has been misused so much it is almost a drop in for fascist or laissez fair capitalist.
E.g. abortion. The conservative mindset is to keep regulations to a minimal and defer to the medical community. Overruling Roe was pretty radical and goes against the recommendations of the medical community. It is also government getting into people’s business.
E.g. climate. Wouldn’t it be more conservative to err on the side of caution and do things that are a good idea anyway and reduce GHG, like renewables and reducing car dependent design? Replacing street cars, trams, and rails with cars everywhere was a pretty radical move.
I can keep going with examples, but I think that is clear enough.
But you are talking about a political conservatives, these aren’t it, they even want to throw elections everywhere. In Brazil our copycats say they are “conservative in traditions” but “liberals in economy”, you know, “I want a child to born but then it can starve to death”.
If you look at policies, people overwhelmingly support policies, initiatives, laws, etc. that progressive groups champion.
If you look at how people rate themselves and people they know, they will simultaneously say that they are all moderates or conservatives.
Politicians further misunderstand the overall lean of their constituents, because the loudest and most consistent voices are regressives screaming that all conservatives are with them.
Add to this that progressive groups tend to be focusing on actually doing the things, while regressives can quickly build a fantasy world and just all agree to repeat it ad nauseum, and you’ve got a perfect storm for people to not have any good way to actually describe the world they want to live in.

That is the infuriating part. The people the are voting for are anything but that when you think about what they say the value and what those they vote for do. Case in point, I just got a mailer from a local politician with some anti trans nonsense about some trans woman athlete that did well and it wasn’t fair because she used to male. Wouldn’t the small government approach be to leave it up to the sports organization?
Same with schools. Why are all these alleged conservatives that claim small government out of their business trying to micromanage school libraries?
Why do these government out of my business types want the only way to get around be a car you have to have government permission to operate that you must register with the government that must meet government safety and emissions regulations, that you can only effectively use on government roads that are monitored constantly by government police and you have to have government mandated insurance that meets government requirements.
I won’t vote for old, either side. Done with it.
