There’s a special place in hell for the guys who put the save point before the monologue, a deeper place in hell for those who make cutscenes unskippable, and a special place in extra hell for the fuckers who do this.
It increases the stakes of dying. You can’t just retry, you have to listen to the villain monologue again
To this day, I still have the entirety of the “Kairi’s inside me” cutscene in Kingdom Hearts memorized, because I was stuck on that goddamned Riku fight for like a week as a kid.
Same, and I still have “it is I, Ansem. Seeker of darkness…” stuck in my head… It has been 20 years!

Me trying to finally beat The Radiance in Hollow Knight, having to first beat The Hollow Knight AGAIN every. single. time. just to get to the second boss fight. I never felt the game was too tedious except for that one detail.
It’s usually the penultimate boss which does this - with the final boss being much easier for some reason.
