I’m listening to a selection of indigenous artists from the Arctic. Here are some of the albums I’ve been listening to:

Sofia Jannik - “ORDA - This is my land” and “lávvu”

Uyarakq -" whale dick" and "survival guide to the high north "

Kitok - “paradise Jokkmokk”

Riit - “ataataga”

Aasiva - “niriunniq”

Katarina barruk - “ruhttuo”

Maxida märak - “utopi”

Plenty of stuffed ones in shops, but they don’t typically come down to continental Norway. I have seen moose though. Also plenty of reindeer.

There’ve been people in Sapmi for at least 10 millennia.

Ok I looked a bit further, the evidence for the first inhabitants of the region being ancestors of the Sami is based on linguistic studies with other Uralic languages. But it’s far from direct evidence. I always assumed it was based on archeological evidence.

I think so. I like things like joik and throat singing mixed with modern music. Also check out Tanya Tagaq. She’s as mad as a barrel full of rabid monkeys, but that’s kinda what I’m into.

It totally depends on what you are into. If you’re interested in sami musik, the Norwegian state run broadcasting corporation (NRK) had a Sami radio station.

I’m not sure if it works outside of Norway.

All of the above mentioned have their discographies on Spotify, so it’s just a question of falling down the rabbit hole. Although kitok has a song which isn’t available on Spotify, which everyone should listen to.

Is trump supporting a race thing or an IQ thing? I’d like to see a statistical analysis.

If you work in academia, you don’t need to learn a new language. English is the working language. Also the 5 weeks of holiday is nice, but what really helps is the working day.

I started as a bioinformatician a month ago. I come in to the office at 0830 have coffee from 09:00 til 09:45 with my boss and colleagues, work a bit, have lunch from 12:00 untill 13:15, work a bit, go home at 15:30. That’s my day.
