I think that’s what will ultimately happen. At this stage I think they’ll find a way to punt. I kinda hope it isn’t on standing, because then you have a situation where even if he (or someone else in the future) is found guilty of insurrection or rebellion, where state officials could still put him on the ballot and no one would have standing to sue to stop it.

1. Pass a bipartisan spending bill with concessions to the Democratic party.

2. When the Freedom Caucus comes for McCarthy’s seat, Democrats vote to protect his speakership.

I don’t think there are any moderate Republicans who would actually want to be a bipartisan Speaker.

It’s a shame. The Windows Phone version of Cortana was much better IMO than Siri and Google Assistant at the time. (And tbh Google Assistant seems to be getting worse over time.) It just wasn’t a good fit at the time for desktop PCs and Microsoft had no mobile offering to make it the default.
