I’m a derby skater as well, and the only trans athlete I know is a FTM transman who beat out two dozen dudes to make the Team USA Mens team. I’m glad our sport is generally welcoming to a diverse group of people.

Just deleted mine. Lemmy seems like a good place to be, and I rather glad that the home page updates often. Reddit, for me at least, was showing links that were 48 hours old a lot of the time.

This is what got me into Mastodon. Federated socials feel like social media from 2010.

Honest question: Is it really accurate to characterize funding for a public utility or service as a bailout? Or are taxpayers just getting value for their tax money?

I would think a bailout would be when we’re giving public money to a for-profit entity that massively mismanaged itself.

The law firm I work for spent half a million dollars in a week to get our entire service center ready for remote work, and then a month later bought us all monitors the size of crib mattresses. In fall 2021 they polled us to see what kind of schedules we wanted when we returned to work, and now we’re on a hybrid schedule that has most teams in one or two days a week tops.

I quit Twitter after the infantile incident with Elon Musk carrying a sink around his own office. From all that we’ve seen in recent years it’s pretty clear he’s lucky to have been born rich, because he definitely isn’t the visionary we thought he was.

When I was 13 at church camp, a church official videoed me changing clothes once.

That was pretty creepy.

Mine is Binky the Blemished, a butt-ugly gnome druid who is essentially a glorified livestock handler. He wears a mask because his face is so ugly it provokes a fear response from people, balanced out by Binky being a super-virgin. He has to roll a CON save if a female character ever touches him, and if he fails that save, he faints.
