Nah, this won’t get nixed. Almost all of the Trump-opponent Senators and Reps are gone or have flipped. The GOP has effective carte blanche to do whatever they wish, and a stacked deck of Supreme Court justices who, now that their jobs are safe from impeachment, will pretty happily rubber stamp anything. Even if they don’t, Trump can simply do it via EO, due to the immunity ruling.

Don’t forget selling off state secrets to the highest bidder. Literally months after Trump won the first time, he met with Vladimir Putin in a private meeting, where the Mueller Report claimed he gave Putin a list of CIA assets tasked with monitoring Russian activity. About a month after THAT, CIA agents and assets started disappearing in Russia and across Europe, almost all of them conveniently FROM THAT LIST.

He also stole state secrets after leaving office and proudly displayed those like war trophies to anyone he met with at Mar-A-Lago.

Nah, slavery is still slavery. Tons of US businesses are currently propped up by prisoner workers who they don’t have to pay practically anything, and who can’t walk off the job, and who can’t really complain too much, AND, conveniently, aren’t employed by that company so they can bypass labor laws like break times, safety regulations, and working hours.

I honestly think he’ll get 25th’d out of office pretty soon after the inauguration, and then JD Vance will take over.

Also, remember that this follows HOT on the heels of SCOTUS saying “basically anything a President does is legal”. This theoretically means Trump and his admin could sidestep Congress entirely, on anything. Trump was already ruling by EO last term, but I suspect we haven’t seen anything yet.

They don’t get that. A lot of people are genuinely idiotic, especially in the US. They don’t think about the fact that their cellphone has parts from all over the world, or their car has pieces from 6 countries in it before being assembled in Georgia. They think “assembled in the US/Packaged in the US” means the whole thing, stem-to-stern, is from the US.

Inflation. “The economy” was the #1 polled issue among Republicans by far. We saw this as well with Bush and Trump’s win in 2016 - for a lot of people, a scary amount, if you just promise “hey I’ll make the economy better.”

Actually, you want declining birthrate in a modern country. You don’t need 10 kids to work the farm with better technology to plant and harvest and help take care of the animals. You don’t need 5 kids to go to the factory to support you because you’re legally not allowed to work because you’re a woman. You have better food and better medicine so you don’t need to hedge your bets on which of your 6 kids is going to live to be an adult.

Nothing states WHERE the President has to be sworn in. LBJ was sworn in on Air Force One. I believe Andrew Johnson was sworn in at the house where Lincoln lay dying.

It wasn’t just that, IIRC, the issue was that it had to be leather bound, with copies of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence (or something like that). The combination of all the requirements meant that only the Trump Bible met all the criteria.
