You forgot the part where the Rapture happens BEFORE the millennium, meaning that all these Christians just get to sit in Heaven and laugh at the sinners. Evangelicalism in the US is heavily premillennial.

The guy who initially authored the bill voted against it so he wouldn’t have to give the Democrats a win. That’s where we’re at.

I doubt it. The EU as a whole, without the UK, lacks force projection capabilities. It’s one thing to string a supply line overland through the continent. It is a whole different thing to string supply lines across an entire ocean. Without massive military spending, which is historically deeply unpopular in the EU, I don’t see them invading any time soon, and THAT assumes the political will to even consider that as an option exists in the first place.

Nope, sorry. I can respect the process of election while also criticizing the man that got elected. Trump is a naked fascist, and Bannon just said as much - on his daily podcast, he all but said “we lied directly to your fucking faces when we said Trump didn’t have involvement or know anything about Project 2025”, and now we’re going to get every last thing that’s outlined in there. Every arm of government has a GOP majority who either owes their success to Trump or is massively already on his side. The checks and balances got swept away, and there is literally nothing, short of states just saying “no” (take a guess how long that’ll work) for Trump to implement anything he wants.

On top of that, SCOTUS already ruled “certain acts” (unspecified) are totally legal if the President does them, so expect to see that tested as to whether it extends to orders given to military, law enforcement, and executive orders that are explicitly illegal or unconstitutional.

Trump and his allies all but said they’d rip up the Constitution. When a person shows you who they are, believe them the first time.

Yup, Great Depression 2. Part of the reason stock prices are flying higher is because investors think they can sell before the crash happens.

Uhhhh, wasn’t that more due to Jeb! ordering the recount stopped? Like, I seem to recall reading that the recount WAS NOT COMPLETED, and the results that they had at that point had to be accepted, which just so happened to favor Bush.

Not saying Nader didn’t siphon votes, but I seem to remember that there was actual skulduggery and not just “3rd party go brr”.

Less “fascism is popular” and more “people are so desperate for SOMEBODY actually promising change that they’ll vote for anyone offering it, no matter if it’s good or bad.”

Status quo politics is pretty much dead in the water and arguably has been since 2016. People don’t want “I’ll keep everything on a steady course,” they want someone who sounds like they’re going to take charge, and Trump provided that.

Pretty much this. The Business Plot succeeded, it just took another 100 years. Now they have their Mussolini-like strongman, and a fully captured legislative and judicial system, all without a March on Rome.

Nah, the 25th just means he’s physically or mentally unfit to perform the office. At the least, I expect Vance to be a shadow president.

Mhm, his whole disease policy is basically " drugs don’t do anything, just sunshine and clean living". It’s incredibly stupid, and will likely lead to the deaths of thousands if implemented the way he wants to.

Remember Maya Angelou: when someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.
