Protectionism is almost always because domestic automakers get complacent in their corner of the world and don’t want to innovate to compete. See how Harley Davidson benefitted from Reagan’s policies in limiting the imports of foreign bikes to the US. Ever since then almost all their bikes have looked like they’ve been stuck in the 1950s yet cost like how inflation would be like 20 years from now. Using underpaid American workers as an excuse to bring on these tariffs and bans just doesn’t convince me if we haven’t been innovating to improve technology or lower costs at the same time.
What an interesting concept for such a classic watch design. Might consider buying one if it’s not too expensive. I’m hoping someone eventually makes a magnetometer add-on for it, it’d be like having a compass and metal detector on your wrist.
The saying “there’s no ethical consumption under capitalism” is pretty true for most of us right now. The oligopoly we have going on makes it extremely difficult to consistently do the right thing. The only real way forward is to regulate the shit out of these products. If only we had another Upton Sinclair to scare the general populace into giving enough of a shit to demand unilateral action.
I thought OneDrive was a Windows thing. What’s it doing on Linux?
I decommission computers with a very efficient inventory and documentation system.
Sure a buckshot works great against a drone or two, but what do you do when there’s a swarm of them? We’re getting to that level of sophistication with them pretty quickly.
Japan Studio was one of those developers that were allowed to experiment and take risks with smaller/cheaper titles for the PlayStation platform. Sony seems to be aiming at only making recognizable franchises and safe bets, kind of like how Disney is still leaning hard on Star Wars and Marvel to keep making money. This is a terrible move as they’re no longer even trying to compete with the creativity and smaller budget of indie developers.
