Currently dealing with the effects of depression zapping any joy or pleasure from things I normally enjoy. I just got home from work and want to play a game, but literally everything sounds awful. I booted up WWE 2K24 and it felt like a stupid waste of time. I turned on Street Fighter 6 and closed it before I even finished my first fight. I’m installing Tropico 6, a game I’ve had hundreds of hours of fun on, but the thought of actually playing it once it’s done doesn’t sound enjoyable. I don’t want to lie on the couch and stare at my phone, and I don’t want to go to bed, but I don’t know what I actually want right now. Gahh.
I’ve realized that I was the most engaged with the Democratic party when there was a faction that platformed raising the minimum wage, implementing universal healthcare, and taking measures to make housing affordable & create a federal jobs guarantee. Those stances are non-existent now, and the party truly has nothing to offer other than not being the Republicans. So what does Kamala do? Try to remake the party’s image as a friendly space for Republicans who think Trump is a little too nasty. I have no interest in voting for a Diet Republican Party, and obviously millions of other people feel the same. If people want substantive change (as much as is possible via liberal electoralism), and all you’re offering is, “We’re the same as the other party, but not as loud about our disdain for minorities, the poor, and the women & children of Palestine!”, they’re just going to stay home. Awesome strategy.
I decided to try watching a Mr. Beast video after listening to the new episode of Trueanon. It was his most recent video where he and a bunch of bros spend 7 days inside of a Romanian salt mine. I gave up after 4-5 minutes, because the production and delivery of the content was just…too much. Like, the entire thing felt like a trailer for the actual video, and I was wondering when it was going to actually start.
