Believing that we need to switch courses is a good first step. The other thing is that the policies he managed to get passed are moving geothermal in the right direction. I heard for the first time about ground source heat pumps because of his incentives for their installation.
There’s also funding for public transit, charging infrastructure for EVs, sunsetting incandescents, etc. It’s not perfect but it’s better than some asshole up there saying how the whole thing is a Chinese hoax and chanting drill baby drill.
I agree with Marc Maron in that I miss the old type of stupid, the self-aware type of stupid. Nowadays all of the idiots will scrawl out a complete rant about all the things they’re clueless about (i.e. most anything that requires any actual abilities, knowledge, or research) and try to pretend that they’re educating you in some way.
Oh well, guess we have to just try it some more and see if the results improve. /s
California has the warn act which is supposed to mandate an employer to either provide notice or give 90 days compensation. It’s not always followed and not always applicable, but it’s similar to what you’re talking about.
In our case it’s slightly better for the employee though, because nobody can force you to continue working here. It’s customary to give two weeks though, and that’s generally followed so that you can use previous employers as a reference.
