It was, as it always is, and as Clinton said over 30 years ago, “the economy, stupid”.

People who do not pay attention to politics vote like someone pressing random buttons on an elevator. They push the up button, no elevator comes, then they push the down button, no elevator comes, and all they know to do is to keep pushing buttons randomly hoping an elevator comes one way or another. And no elevator ever comes.

He did build a wall! Started anyway. He didn’t finish it. Biden kept adding to it. He didn’t finish it either. It’s a long border.

Wait a minute, doesn’t Netherlands have a fascist government now too?

Germany: fascists on the rise. France: fascists on the rise and appeased by centrists. Italy: fascists fully in charge! Netherlands: fascists! Finland: fascists

I mean, where the fuck do you go?

South America and Central America have already had their day of being deeply fucked by USA military, CIA, and policies, long ago. Don’t know if that’ll come back again, but likely not.

They didn’t ignore this reality. They tried to move to the right, and woo right wing voters, trotting out Liz Cheney, acting and talking like Republicans. And it accomplished nothing: R’s voted with their party. It was a total failure.

Plus, people quit and get fired, all the time.

In one sense, there’s no point in getting attached to them, because they, like you and me and all of us, are expendable cogs in a capitalist machine.

On the other hand, those networks of “work friends” do tend to get each other jobs when they quit or get fired, so there’s some value in making those connections if you plan to stay in the business.
