Caved and signed up here, I work too much shift work alone not have some sort of little outlet.

Some leftover potato and leek soup with a dinner roll for dipping. There’s also some sticky date for dessert, the thing I am most excited about.

Having similar issues with other learning subreddits I follow. I very recently joined a sub for learning Dutch and I’m not keen for it to potentially go under because it has some excellent threads and resources.

It’s officially been a week since I decided to learn Dutch, and my ability to introduce myself now rivals that of a toddler. I will say I am having so much fun with it! Also, I’ve found focusing on direct translation has really helped me with recognising word order and the patterns that come with that. Although I sometimes still get “en” and “een” mixed up, especially when I’m practising writing.

From what I understand a native/fluent Dutch speaker would mostly be able to understand someone speaking Afrikaans, but a native/fluent Afrikaans speaker would probably not be able to understand someone speaking Dutch.

Like for me Good Morning is Goedemorgen, Afrikaans like you said is Goie More.

Very much in my toddler babbling era right now.

Noticed some of the posts on generic subs sort of look like bots have posted them, r/askreddit is especially bad. On another note I keep reflexively opening Reddit on my phone and annoying myself.

I’m a shitty shift worker, so if I’m not at work I’m usually asleep (that’s not even an exaggeration). It really really sucks, although I recently decided it’s time to suck up the financial blow and look for other work.

Watching the new Deadloch ep while I eat breakfast, and I have to say this ep is definitely slower than the rest. It’s definitely a dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s episode in preparation for the final few eps. Sadly this ep is also poking holes in my outlandish theory as to who the killer is.

Final note, Kate Box is fkn killing it as the lead, while Madeliene Sami seriously wobbles on the line between funny and ok this is old now, Kate Box is absolutely solid from start to end. Would enjoy seeing some awards thrown at her when the time comes.
