Plutus, Haskell, Nix, Purescript, Swift/Kotlin. laser-focused on FP: formality, purity, and totality; repulsed by pragmatic, unsafe, “move fast and break things” approaches

And those oligarchs bought up every key political seat in the GOP and DNC….

What I am getting at is: we’re sitting here infighting between two sham parties.
First past the post literally disqualifies the US from being considered a democracy. It keeps us infighting about Hulk Hogan vs. the Undertaker while the corporations (which are considered people except they are increasingly unprosecutable/above the law) shape our government into a fascist state whether you’re talking about under GOP or DNC rule.

I hate Donald Trump as much as the next guy but you identity politics dupes need to wake up and stop throwing your support behind fake leftists like Obama. The absence of a true left is what gave us Donald Trump in the first place.

This snap/appimage/flatpak junk is an outdated, cargo cult cancer. It does the opposite of what Nix and GUIX are doing.

I am a fairly radical leftist and a pacifist and you wouldn’t believe the amount of hoo-ra military, toxic masculinity, explosions and people dying, gun-lover bullshit the YouTube algorithm has attempted to force down my throat in the past year. I block every single channel that they recommend yet I am still inundated.

Now, with shorts, it’s like they reset their whole algorithm entirely and put it into sensationalist overdrive to compete with TikTok.

The API changes were the last straw; but it had been heavily destroyed by astroturfing for years before the API restrictions finally just pushed me over the edge.

Technically, the fediverse would be even easier to astroturf. Luckily we’re early enough that astroturfing is foolish on Lemmy.

Little known fact: all mattes are shot on first generation film. Kubrick would shoot the matte, put the film in storage, put it back in camera, then shoot the inside of the matte. It looks pristine to this day because there was no generation loss since there was only one generation even in the most effects heavy shots.

Slow, boring spy films like “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy”

Don’t go to college. Run away to a country that doesn’t have a US military base and live a simple, happy, peaceful life.

It’s funny to see someone that is such a neolib that they’d characterize a guy who ran a botched presidential campaign as “straight shooter”.
