On the point about why they didn’t use cows instead of humans as an energy source. I think I’ve read that in the original conception of the Matrix, the humans’ brains were meant to be used for computation for the machines, rather than the humans being energy sources. This was changed since computers were new to the general public in 1999 and it was believed the concept would be too confusing.

That would be in the same spirit as the system of government in ancient Athens. Common people being chosen by lottery to have a seat in governement. From the little I know on the subject, I always thought it seemed like a really solid democratic system.

That was a very thoughtfully written response. I can relate to a lot of your story and agree with your conclusions. There needs to be more outlets for men as an alternative to right wing communities. I hope you meet more liberals and feminists that are open-minded to men’s hardships. I have to believe there are more reasonable people out there on the left than not.

I sincerely hope the European powers will overcome their internal politics and the rightward slide many of them seem to be on, and cooperate more closely for the world’s sake. I want to be hopeful for the climate and humanity.

Hopefully Canada will stick with Europe rather than the US ideologically, but with how things are going here we seem farther along on our rightward slide.

Windows is becoming more of a shit show everyday, comically so. Glad I finally installed Linux Mint today. I’ve used Windows exclusively up until now and just quit cold turkey, putting Mint on my daily driver. I was hesitant to upend my computer habits by swapping OS, but I should have done this ages ago. I’m sure I’ll run into some kind of issue sooner than later, but I’ll take a technical problem over one manufactured by a corporation’s greed any day.

As a fairly longtime lurker on Reddit now bought into Lemmy, I’m making it a resolution to break that habit and post/comment more. Thanks for the PSA!

I’m getting troll vibes, but I’ll bite lol. Fusion reactions are the exception since you’re turning some mass into energy according to:

E = mc^2

There’s many quality videos on YouTube that can provide a better explanation than I ever could.

I’ve had a similar experience. I’ve been trying to quit porn off and on for a while now. At one time I considered myself as practicing NoFap. I consumed all the introductory content you first come across, abstained from masterbating for varying stretches of time, and visited the subreddit fairly regularly.

I would say overusing porn can for sure have downsides, and abstaining from masterbating for a short time could help with getting out of the habit of using porn. The community just gets so much more weird and cringe from there, not to mention the violence that is fostered there which I wasn’t aware of. Maybe the forum was more hardline.

That video looks interesting too, thanks for sharing!

Trump also probably still holds a grudge against Ukraine for not manufacturing/finding dirt on Biden during the last election, or whatever the particulars were.
