Mb I’m weird, but I liked beamer. You can even use animated slide transitions with various degrees of horrendousness… Apparently, PDF supports that kinds of stuff ('cuz why wouldn’t it, I guess).

Same here, I mostly use brave search with occasional !ecos. Although, both companies have made questionable stuff in their browsers (ddg – not blocking m$ trackers, brave – similar stuff with trackers, don’t remember which, plus the whole affiliate link debacle).

Well, there are better reasons for getting rid of fossil software… Like xorg being a giant clusterhack :)

Startpage is “cool” as long as you’re not using a proxy/VPN, and otherwise they tell you to GTFO (without an opportunity to complete a capcha or smth). Even more, they can tell you the very same thing if you’re sharing a connection with lots of ppl (e.g. a dorm or a public WiFi, probably). Finally, (heard it from surveillance report, but didn’t care to check myself since I’ve stopped using them 'cause of proxies long before) they don’t interact with journalists, and there’s not much known about their parent company

I mean, it’s possible given their resources… It just takes long enough to be unfeasible. Also, in special circumstances they can Pegasus your phone and obtain the info without decrypting… Not like you’re not screwed anyways when it comes to such drastic measures.

https://www.f-droid.org/en/packages/ch.protonvpn.android/

Mail’s on Izzy, tho: https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/index/apk/ch.protonmail.android On the other hand, I don’t exactly see a reason to have a mail client on the phone at all. I mean web browsers do exist, and the app doesn’t seem to provide any additional benefits.

Also, wdym by “single app”? If as in “at least one”, then VPN counts, and if as in “one app that incorporates mall + VPN + whatever else they come up with”… Why?

P.S. I’m not agitating for or against using proton, just curious.

Idk, like if the average person is the one who uses the os as a bootloader for $whatever_browser, then there’s little to no difference. And if some windows-specific software is necessary, then windows is just way easier, I guess (wine works fine for me personally, tho).

On the other hand, if you want the os to behave the way you want, then Linux is way simpler.
