If you pay to own a movie then yes, you should be allowed to make copies of it and keep it forever, even if the seller goes bankrupt in future. You are paying to own the movie.

If you subscribe to Netflix you are not paying to own the content, you are paying for access to their content. Therefore you cannot legally download a movie from Netflix and keep a copy forever.

However, if Netflix don’t make it possible to buy their unique content for permanent ownership, then piracy is the inevitable result and they should address that.

But let’s be honest here, none of you are intending to buy anything.

Are you confusing farmers with farm labourers? One runs a highly specialist business, one just needs to pick strawberries.

Trades is a good example. Plumbers and electricians are generally paid quite well. Specialist industrial trades, welders, etc. can be paid amazingly well.

Although so can grass cutters, pool boys and painters and they seem pretty unskilled to me.

Strawman. Unskilled /= low pay. High supply of workers/candidates vs. demand is what makes the pay low.

There are plenty unskilled jobs that are relatively well paid because, for whatever reason, not enough people want to do them. Painter/Decorator for example, how hard is it to paint a wall.

The idiot quiz master said it was Buzz Aldrin (the second man). In disbelief, I tried to educate them of their error, only for the rest of the room, mainly boomers, to tell me I was wrong. Including one guy in his 80s who said “It was definitely Buzz. I watched it when it happened. I remember it well”.

I asked him “who said the famous ‘one small step for man’?”

Him: “Ahh yes, Now that was Armstrong.”

Me: “Surely Buzz would say those words if he was the first one out. I mean there is literally video of the event. You even watched it live”

Him: “Yes, it’s Armstrong in the video. But Buzz was definitely first out. Who do you think was holding the camera?”

It could also lead to a human version of “Paris Syndrome” where people AI Undress their crush, only to be sorely disappointed when the real thing is not as good.
