Turning your fridge off for an hour will not cause your food to spoil. You probably won’t even notice a difference since they are well insulated. Turning off the compressor during the hour where most of everyone gets home and turns on their AC can have a noticeable effect on grid stability if done widely enough. I do this with a smart switch connected to my HA server instead of using cloud based connections, but the effect is the same and I’ve never had my food spoil because of it.

They found a loophole. They don’t need adults to do those jobs anymore. Unaccompanied minors aren’t turned away at the border and multiple states are removing child labor laws. Now we have unaccompanied immigrant children working fun time making cars in Ford and GM factories, Cheerios, and all sorts of other things for pennies, all here in the US.

I have all my services set up on a docker container that has a VPN Killswitch, so if the VPN ever drops for any reason my “activity” is disabled automatically until I can notice and fix it.
