Agree. Currently using EU hosted Nextcloud, with plans of self hosting. Also getting into PhoneTrack which seems as a neat and privacy respecting way of sharing location.

I think Nextcloud is an easy option. Lots og dedicated WebDav servers out there. For CardDav and CalDav (Contacts and calendar) I rembember that Radicale is a good bet: https://radicale.org/v3.html

Instead of going to blogs, YouTube, podcast etc. you subscribe to them and feetch news from via RSS in a web or local client. IMHO the way things should work 🙂
