One problem is there is no dark mode button in user settings. I’m sure there is something you can download and apply or something, just would like a little slider in settings before I go snowblind.
The question I’ve always wondered is… how many mods are already paid? Not by reddit, but by other media companies that pay them specifically to tilt the scales and suppress or promote particular viewpoints. Those people will want to remain part of the community - so supporting the blackout, but also if their paycheck comes from having power on reddit, they will also support reopening.
Sort of sounds like my little Arizona town. “No, we don’t want this economic opportunity, we like the town small and manageable!” The average age ten years ago was 55, and now it is 65. What is going to happen to the town in 20 years?
During the last site-wide protest in 2015 I set up a VOAT account with all the similar subreddits that I had at the time. When people first started suggesting abandoning ship, I thought “Well, at least I still have Voat”. Checks Voat. Turned into a alt-rght haven and then shut down in 2020. Dho!
In response, Bibi puts forward three-point proposal for settlement of Taiwan question.
And what does the US state department say on Palastine independence? I know that the US doesn’t recognize it as a country, and if they don’t recognize Palastine’s sovereignty over its land then they must recognize it as part of Israel. Many Palestinians would like to be part of Israel, if not for better economic security. Both pseudo-countries have a lot of facts about them the same.
As for Taiwan, back in the day they claimed to be the “real China”, and forced the UN to only ever recognize “one China”. This rightly pissed off everyone on the mainland. I don’t see any movement on Taiwan’s status until everyone who can remember that historic slight has passed on, hopefully through natural means.
When “vote for mods to reopen” polls com to reddit, will there be an organized ‘3rd party’ party which identifies which mods want to keep the protest up?
