As weird as it is to express, it wasn’t an opinion. It’s a fact. It’s controversial even in leftist spaces (brought up because they care about outcomes and mental health), but the stigma does prevent people from seeing therapy. Although that is a very careful balance that’d have to be reached to convince people to get help.

I got no idea of you’re fash or not, but you are clearly acting in bad faith. Trying to apply the paradox of tolerance to someone using the paradox of tolerance? Not denying the place your defending is awful, but instead trying to say quarantining it is bad for reasons? Trying to suggest that viewpoints completely divorced from reality are completely valid?

Mocking shitheels is a great passtime, but engaging with someone who lies about the basic facts of reality is nearly impossible. A COVID denier, just to bring it all back around in a single comment, will just deny evidence has any merit. Look at the latest trans freak outs, again to keep it to a single reply, it’s ‘people’ objectively lying and claiming kids get surgery when that doesn’t happen.

I quite enjoy it here. So far the culture seems pretty fine and It also feels like it’s unlikely a random, inexplicable, and harsh shift in views (like the animemes incident from reddit) will see me banned or something. I do think there can be such a thing as being too lenient with what’s allowed (if your bar lets in nazis then your bar is the nazi bar and all that), but it doesn’t seem to be a big issue here. The biggest problems (being shut out of other content) don’t come from this instance either, it’s other instances having weird hangups that paint them in a really bad light going forward, and that can be gotten around with a back up anyway if i ever need to doom scroll on the toilet at 3am.

It’s also got some cute and funny communities and just a old-school vibe to it that’s so much better than a Reddit knock off (but that might just be the fediverse). Like, I’m more likely to see a kaomoji then an emoji (ᵔ◡ᵔ)

But you’re the one trying to pretend ignorance is a valid viewpoint? While I’ve not been to the supposed shithole in question and i don’t really care about this instance specifically, there is no merit to transphobia or COVID conspiracy, pretending otherwise is flying in the face of reality.

Gatekeeping is a good thing. Once something gets popular it attracts more attention, and that’s very bad for a small culture. Not to mention once there’s capital in the water the suits show up and take over.

Humans are bad, and not (just) in a hippie kinda way. As a product of totally random processes we’re kinda cool, as an actual design the body is absolutely horrible. The brain is an amazing computer, but it takes down right bizarre shortcuts. We as a species need to be working towards fixing the failures of biology.
