I just ran powerdelete suit on my reddit accounts and replaced all of my posts/comments with ones urging users to join lemmy. I was going to wait until July 1rst but if reddit is going to get that serious, then so am I. I am OUT!

dam, I feel a tad like an ass for deleting my reddit comments the way I did. Oh well, guess there’s no turning back now.

Edit: never mind, @danke@lemmy.ml seems to have made an account with the express purpose of making these comments, while OP is a 2Y old account, who posted the other day about helping redditors migrate over here. Idk what the actual truth of this situation is, but I’m inclined to lean towards OPs side of the story. I remember OPs reddit posts and they wheren’t “spam” from what I could tell, he just posted basically the same post to multiple subreddits and AFAIK he didn’t repeatedly post to the same subreddit multiple times.

It was a bit rough getting an account I’m happy with set up, but beyond that I’m really enjoying the experience so far.

At the risk of upsetting people, most if not all religions. They can’t all be right.

Yea I more or less agree with that sentiment. I myself am an athiest but I view religion in general as a coping mechanism, and real or not if you take away coping mechanisms then you risk doing actual harm to people(psychologically), which is why I try to be as anti-evangelical and secular as I can. I just wish people would stop using it as justification for the shitty things they do. I wouldn’t mind more people thinking like I do but they have to come to that conclusion on their own.

When you say “this site”, do you mean lemmy in general, or lemmy.ml(your home instance)? Because lemmy in general DOES allow nsfw content, its just that no one (to my current knowledge) had been willing to start+moderate a NSFW instance yet. If you think you are up to it, you are more than welcome to spin up your own instance. Just remember you still have to follow all the laws regarding server hosting where you live(or where the server is hosted maybe? Idk I’m not a lawyer).

I’m just going to take your response literally, because I honestly can’t tell if you’re joking or not. when you join a lemmy instance, in OPs case, lemmy.ml, or in your case, lemmy.world. your profile is hosted on said instance, and therefore anything you put on your profile is subject to the rules of whoever owns/moderates that instance. if you don’t like it, move to another instance, or start your own, that’s the benefit of a federated system!

true enough, but I don’t think i’m going to care that much as long as the community stays big enough to stay somewhat active. I feel much more engaged in the community here than I ever did on reddit.

Dear conservatives: if you want to go out and breath smoke directly into your lungs for no other reason than because its your right, go the fuck ahead. If you all die before those of us who care about our health more than talking points and religious values, we would all be better off as a species. That is all.
