I came back to gaming after PS1 during the end of the PS4 era and the first bigger title I played was The Last of Us Remake. I was blown away by the production value. In case you’re looking for something “less chill” after Stray I can only recommend it.
I also liked Stray! How do you like it so far?

Is it Psyops, confused officials, a business model (to sell books, speak on conferences)?

Weirdly enough, there is no actual buzz yet, from my point of view. The claims are quite crazy, and mainstream media has only reported hesitantly if not ignored the recent developments so far.
So while I understand your general stance, I would agree more with the article in that “something” is going on that is worth looking at, without coming to early conclusions. No matter the outcome, it can potentially teach us a lot about how these involved organizations/entities work.

But wouldn’t the be easier ways to distract?

I could imagine something similar to reddit’s multisubreddit feature, whereas in this case it’s different magazines/communities from different instances or even services.

People are shitting on Germans public broadcasting and its fee a lot and there have been a couple of actual scandals, but all in all the news and investigative pieces they produce are so important.
