It was such a vile move to claim the name meta. Before that, both “meta” and “metaverse” had a very different meaning and it has drastically changed since then.

actually so fucking true, I’ve seen so many YouTube videos when the metaverse was announced that they were going to do stuff in the metaverse but it was just vr chat, so people got high expectations and stuff
