If I ever find myself as a defendant in a fraud trial, maybe I should try repeatedly insulting the judge, prosecutor, and clerk and calling them names, just to see what happens next. Wanna bet I’d find my ass in jail with a contempt charge? Every day, Trump shows there really is a two-tiered justice system.

Trump keeps claiming that he’s being treated differently by the justice system. He means that he’s being treated worse and he’s wrong about that, but he is accidentally correct in that he’s being treated better than any other defendant would be treated. If you or I were facing 10% of the charges Trump is facing, we’d (rightfully) be sitting in a jail cell awaiting trial.

I don’t expect a former president to get the same treatment as me. I expect them to have it better since our nation somewhat depends on them not being treated better.

Especially currently, the judges are very smart in not pursuing apt punishment for his small infractions. Their eye is on the ultimate justice here. Because small punishments only stoke the fires. Small punishments make this look petty and weak and as if they want to get him for anything and everything.

Will people still think that? Yes. But the image of these particular cases is far more important to justice than violations of gag orders.

Just keep that in mind. Going after him for every small thing is more likely to cause further injustice in the nation if he wins election.

It’s like he doesn’t realize performing for his fans will cost him his entire business empire. Bizarre.

I think what the OP is referring to is that Trump HASN’T had any real repercussions for acting the way he has, whereas a ‘normal’ person would have ended up with charges by now.

I wasn’t disagreeing. I was saying I have no idea why he thinks this won’t piss off the judge even more beyond plain stupidity (which might be all it is) and it’s not a jury trial. The company has already been found liable. The more he pisses off the judge, the more likely the judge will end his business empire.

So maybe he’s an idiot and thinks he’ll get away with it this time, but he already hasn’t gotten away with it. He’s already past that point in this trial.

Thing is, this isn’t justice. This is reality TV.

Now imagine if you or I acted this way. We would go straight to prison.

I cannot believe how far we’ve fallen.

Mate, the oligarchy have been getting away with the worst crimes imaginable since forever. The only difference with Trump is how publicly and brazenly he is with his crimes.

The average member of the rich and powerful across business and politics are far more corrupt and sociopathic than the rest of the population. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

You hear about “Russian Oligarchs” all the time, but “American Oligarchs” so rarely. That’s a concept that needs to be out there more - that we are actually ruled by the wealthy. It’s practically the end goal of capitalism.

Why the fuck would you pause it? They should lock an actual gag around his mouth and leave it there.

It was lifted by an appeals court judge who, coincidentally, was appointed by a former Republican governor.

A lawyer for Mr. Trump, Alina Habba, praised the appellate court after the Thursday hearing and quickly took advantage of the development.

Ms. Greenfield “is in the judge’s ear time and time again,” Ms. Habba said. “If she had a real threat, she should get off the bench.”

“We have never encouraged death threats against the individuals we scream about online, while sharing their names, pictures and even addresses. But if those people have gotten death threats at some point after our unrelated personal attacks, then clearly they should give in to the demands of the people threatening them. Demands which just so happen to align with our interests.”

I can only hope that this shithead ends up facing legal problems like so many other Trump lawyers. Or that she ends up getting doxed and harassed so severely that she becomes a recluse, though I’m not sure what she’d have to do to get anyone to give enough of a shit to put in the effort.
