1. I establish username, pwd, and provide an email address

Looks good so far but all goes silent and they don’t send me a verification email.

  1. next day I try to login using the credentials I established yesterday

🚫

“login invalid”

  1. So I try to establish the same username password and email address I tried yesterday.

🚫

“user already exists”

  1. So I try to log in using those credentials.

🚫

“incorrect login credentials”

  1. So I come up with a whole new username and a whole new email address. I try this with that instance and it takes me back through steps 1-5. So I try it with a different instance and it takes me back through steps 1-5. Over and over again. For months

The only instance that has ever let me in is dot world but they are glitching so hard lately and I want to join a new instance. I’m trying!

Check your spam folder? I never hear complaints like this from our users, maybe those instances aren’t well configured?

leaving a comment because otherwise I won’t be able to access this post because .world has hidden all my posts and tells me I have no posts even though I have 47 posts.

Are you using a mobile app? I had some issues with Memmy, but now that I switched to Voyager, everything is working well.

Yes I’ve been using sync. I always thought it was the gold standard and I didn’t realize they might be the culprit for my troubles lately. Thank you for telling me about Voyager! I just joined and logged in to my account and customized all the settings and you’re right, it’s great 😸 👍 They even show all my 47 posts. (edit - actually no they’re still pretending that I’ve never posted anything 😡 It says “47 posts,” but won’t display any of them and tells me there are none. So I’m gonna go ahead and attribute that fuckery to dot world.) Anyway hopefully Voyager is a service that won’t fuck around with me like reddit and .world have.

Sweet, glad you were able to get up and running again. I think there’ll be bugs and growing pains with Lemmy/Fedv for a while still but that’s part of the fun & charm

Thanks for that, it seems to work better after just even a moment of use.

okay as I’m using Voyager, there is a feature that I can’t find and maybe it doesn’t exist there, but I’m usually obsessed with re-reading my own comments in a list format. Does Voyager not have this? Or where is it?

Middle button on the button row, labeled with your instance. Is that what you’re looking for? That’s how I see my comments on Voyager.

That’s weird. I’m not having issues. I’m on lemmy.world and my mobile client is eternity

I’m still learning about the fediverse. So far all I understand is the concept of instances. can you please explain to me the concept of “mobile clients” and “servers?”

A mobile client is just any app on your phone that can get you into Lemmy. There are a lot of them.
