Fuck that guy in particular, but he served his time and had his rights restored. I’m just curious to see what kind of numbers he gets.

Fuck Nazis and fuck you for defending them. I don’t give a shit about the context, there’s no amount of time he could serve that would make him deserve even the tiniest ounce of power. Again, fuck you with a fucking cactus for defending him

Pointing out that he can legally be on the ballot isn’t defending him, but go off.

It is. He doesn’t deserve shit for rights, no Nazi does. If you believe otherwise you can go fuck yourself, or let the Nazis you love so much do it for you

Earlier this month, Democrat members of the Rockingham Elections Board had voted to keep Gibson on the ballot, while Republicans wanted to block his candidacy.

Stephen Wiley, the caucus director for the North Carolina House Republicans, who has been a vocal opponent to Gibson’s candidacy, claimed Democrats wanted to keep him in the race so they could campaign on the idea that GOP voters were in bed with nazis.

“Democrats decided they wanted a Nazi in the Republican primary, so that if even one person votes for him they can say ‘Look, Republicans support Nazis,’” Wiley told WRAL.

The vote by North Carolina’s Board of Elections now clears Gibson to compete in the GOP primary against state Rep. Reece Pyrtle.

Fuck.

Also from the article:

[Gibson] appealed to the State Board of Elections, which determined Tuesday that according to state law, Gibson’s citizenship rights had been restored, given that his prison term ended over a decade ago.

In other words, contrary to Stephen Wiley’s blatant self-serving lies that you quoted, the real reason Democrats voted to keep Gibson on the ballot was that the law required it and they were following the law. That’s in stark contrast to the Republicans on the board, by the way, who voted to deprive him of his rights.

Also, we all damn well know that if the Democrats had voted the other way, the Republicans would’ve been screeching and crying crocodile tears about Democrat tyranny depriving an upstanding Republican of their lawful candidacy and leveraging it as an excuse to pretend what’s going on with Trump is part of a pattern and thus a conspiracy to suppress Republicans, or some bullshit like that.

Yeah, that’s totally why they did that and not because that’s been the liberal strategy since at least 2016. They do this all the fucking time, from small local elections to the fucking presidency, democrats have been boosting far right republicans because they think they have a better chance against them. THIS IS HOW TRUMP GOT ELECTED. This is very clearly another case of that, the nicest thing I can say here is you’d have to be naive as fuck to believe otherwise

Declining to unjustly remove somebody from the ballot is hardly “boosting” them!

Ah, the joys of politics. Remember when trump got on the ballot and how that played out?

Derp.

Nah, a few votes and so what. Both parties have fuck ups that vote for them. If he wins the election, then it’s more of a talking point. The more likely strategy is the Dems hoping he’s repulsive to at least some republicans, so they stay home, and the Dem wins.

Makes sense in a game theory kinda way. Problem is, the right doesn’t care, as long as a Dem doesn’t win.

Remember, you’ve gotta vote blue no matter who because the alternative is… fascists that are propped up by democrats. Jesus Christ I hate the two party system

Damn liberals really don’t like facing the fact that their guys literally support fascists xD cry harder

Those were claims by the republican party. Read further on and it stated it would have been illegal to deny them. So the democrats did what was legal, the republicans wanted to do something illegal, and then claimed it was part of some liberal agenda.

If he had his rights restored & stayed out of further trouble, it doesn’t matter how shitty of a human he is. The GOP doesn’t have to support him, but they don’t have copyright on the word Republican.

They don’t want to support him because it makes it look like Neo-Nazis are Republican. The other way to keep it from appearing that Neo-Nazis support you is to oppose policies and rhetoric that appeals to them.

It’s easier to try to kick him off the ticket than to stop pandering to literal white supremacists.
