A bit a of a straw man here, I know. Inspired by the recent debates about the commercial use of space and how it makes scientists worried about pollution and environmental degradation
A free market self regulates for nothing but profit
“but muh free market” mfrs when I break their kneecaps and their McInsurance doesn’t cover it:
when u realize there is mostly empty space between nukleus an electron shell
You may own your floor boards yes – wooden planks, formed by countless strands of molecules, though which themselves consist of nothing but nuclei and electrons –
I, however, have aquired exclusive rights to all of the vast real estate found inbetween those puny particles and I shall develop it into trendy nano-lofts and studios!
The market will regulate the market.
Promise!
I honestly can’t wait until we get to the point that large corporations own certain parts of space and make it so you have to pay to travel past those parts if affordable and easy space travel for the masses ever becomes reality. Can’t wait until they blot out every single star and replace them with an ad for a product you can’t afford. Can’t wait for them to replace the sun and moon with ads for space travel, now for the low cost of only 300 centuries worth of your salary!
