How about physical buttons?
And additionally also unsubscribe-but-keep-the-tech-I-bought-working-as-is buttons?
Seems like a reasonable safety feature. There are often signs with an AM radio station listed for broadcasts. And it requires less tech (and fewer issues) than cell service.
Has anyone here actually used AM radio during an emergency? Iβve used FM to keep track of a tornado once and weatherband a few times, but never AM.
Iβd hate for there to be any interference to the pristine audio quality of AM radio.
Now if only we could disable the radio in the settings. I have never been in a car where the infotainment system didnβt randomly default back to the radio when it couldnβt connect to the phone or AA fast enough. Itβs startling when randomly the radio comes on full blast because you might have been listening to a stream or podcast at a certain volume and then paused it when you arrived at your destination but didnβt reduce the volume. I want the radio but on my own terms.
