Definitely AI generated art. If you asked me 3-4 years ago I’d tell you there is no way neural networks would understand how to generate a nice looking image. The fact that high quality AI art is way less expensive computationally than generating text still confuses me. Like, I can generate beautiful 1024x1024 images within seconds but this text generation model needs 20gb of vram? Huh?!

The idea for so long was that creative professionals would be safe from automation (writing, drawing, painting, etc) has turned out to be so wrong it’s sad.

Nobody is safe. I’m only hoping to get ahead just a little bit to pay off my debts before I suddenly can’t find good work.

I amazed at what image generation can come up with, too.

Ai near perfectly replicating voices and creating fantastic looking art within the span of it being a joke to very impressive in like 1~2 years.

Also Ai chat models being able to hold a decent conversation and not be gibberish or obviously inhuman is very impressive.

Most humans only know how to repeat short, smart sounding talking points. It makes sense that AI have been able to replicate that. Ai chat bots sound like they’re saying a lot, but really say anything. Political speech writers will be out of a job first.

Someone once posted that they got GPT to produce much higher quality output by instructing it to make an argument, critique that argument, make a new argument with the critique in mind, and so on.

Maybe stable, precise reasoning is just a result of multiple language models arguing with each other.

Do you want a singularity event? Because, that’s how we get a singularity event. 💀

yeah probably asking for more detail helps. GPT is limited in output length, so arguing and going to the detail will produce better output

To me it’s been audiobooks and youtube videos where I can no longer tell if it’s an AI or a person speaking.

Five Finger Family has been speculated to be partially created by AI. It’s a nonsense channel aimed at children. There’s also Nothing Forever or dragonball_ai which are more parodies that will have a short life span.

The sudden explosion in ai popularity when chatGPT came out. I didn’t expect to see this topic going mainstream for meny many more years before that happened.

How much people mistake AI for real intelligence.

Ai is intelligent though. And wtf is “real” intelligence? Are you saying that the technology we have is not “real”?

Edit: are you confusing intelligence for sentience? Because there’s a huge difference between the two.

I am not sure if you want to claim you love Jesus or not these practices are constitutional under the First Amendment.

Was that intelligence, what i just wrote there? Because I just tapped the left-most option on my spell checker. This is how ChatGPT and other LLMs work. They know a lot of words and know what word should come next. They do it a lot better than the android spell checker, but they do it just the same.

The hallucinations AI experiences are more of its users hallucinating that AI is Actually Intelligent. It is only Artificially Intelligent.

They know a lot of words and know what word should come next.

And to accurately predict intelligent conversations you need to develop intelligence yourself. (I mean the ai)

He’s using “real” as the opposite of “artificial”

Real intelligence comes from real life experiences in reality which an AI is incapable of experiencing.

About:

This sublemmy is a place for sharing news and discussions about artificial intelligence, core developments of humanity’s technology and societal changes that come with them. Basically futurology sublemmy centered around ai but not limited to ai only.

Rules:
  1. Posts that don’t follow the rules and don’t comply with them after being pointed out that they break the rules will be deleted no matter how much engagement they got and then reposted by me in a way that follows the rules. I’m going to wait for max 2 days for the poster to comply with the rules before I decide to do this.
  2. No Low-quality/Wildly Speculative Posts.
  3. Keep posts on topic.
  4. Don’t make posts with link/s to paywalled articles as their main focus.
  5. No posts linking to reddit posts.
  6. Memes are fine as long they are quality or/and can lead to serious on topic discussions. If we end up having too much memes we will do meme specific singularity sublemmy.
  7. Titles must include information on how old the source is in this format dd.mm.yyyy (ex. 24.06.2023).
  8. Please be respectful to each other.
  9. No summaries made by LLMs. I would like to keep quality of comments as high as possible.
  10. (Rule implemented 30.06.2023) Don’t make posts with link/s to tweets as their main focus. Melon decided that the content on the platform is going to be locked behind login requirement and I’m not going to force everyone to make a twitter account just so they can see some news.
  11. No ai generated images/videos unless their role is to represent new advancements in generative technology which are not older that 1 month.
  12. If the title of the post isn’t an original title of the article or paper then the first thing in the body of the post should be an original title written in this format “Original title: {title here}”.
  13. Please be respectful to each other.

Note:

My posts on this sub are currently VERY reliant on getting info from r/singularity and other subreddits on reddit. I’m planning to at some point make a list of sites that write/aggregate news that this subreddit is about so we could get news faster and not rely on reddit as much. If you know any good sites please dm me.
