You only need one account. Each instance does have the ability to block other instances, meaning if you want to see the whole WHOLE Lemmy federation you’d have to get multiple accounts and switch between them, but honestly right now 95% of everything is on lemmy.ml and Beehaw.org

The people who run lemmy.ml also run lemmygrad.ml and that second one has a fair amount of communist propaganda. I’m not talking about stuff like “workers unite!” I’m taking about stuff like “actually no one was killed at tiananmen square and if anyone was it was soldiers who were killed by those unruly students and not the other way around.”

This wouldn’t be so bad, except that they federate Lemmygrad so the main instance will occasionally get to see literal propaganda that the admins won’t take down.

Edit: So as not to get into a dumb argument, I’ll spell it out here in the edit for anyone who missed the point. The problem is not viewing the world through a different lense, the problem is an outright denial of reality. Denial of basic facts. You’re free to interpret facts however you want. You’re not allowed to just deny reality. This is a problem all over the world, and it’s bad no matter who is doing it.

If you go to the areas where people are suggesting features, it’s almost 100% “please implement my personal favorite feature from my personalized Reddit experience.”

Now, I’m going to say that wanting the features you found useful in your old social media is a perfectly reasonable desire, but it’s the Dev’s job to make sure all the feature and UI changes are self-consistent and not overload for the user. So, naturally a bunch of requests are going to have to be ignored, at least for the time being.

It’s my understanding that the latest numbers just before the API nonsense put the old and unofficial users only at around 5% of the total userbase. While I suspect that they had disproportionate engagement and moderator numbers, I think most of the people who don’t care really are in the vast majority who aren’t immediately affected by the change.

Just as with any diversity issue (in this case, a diversity of personality types) the majority is going to find the quality of Reddit content will start to slip as the minority leaves. Failing to stand up for the people who are loudly proclaiming they’ve got a problem is going to affect everyone, even though it’s not immediately obvious.

Also, most of the people who really care have already left.

Yeah, but early adopters will weather the storm. Remember how shitty the Reddit servers used to be? Lemmy will continue to improve and more and more users will find a home here.

You can get ones where the valve is metered so you can open it a little for low power or sightly more for more water. I always wipe once after using it mine, which keeps things dry, but I ain’t never had to wipe twice.
