don’t forget 3 years later when the subscription isn’t profitable enough, so they start injecting ads into the paid subscribers as well.

god forbid they have expectations of “successful” instead of “most profitable game in our company’s history”. I don’t think PUBG or WoW set out to be the successes they were, it just happened, I wish companies knew that that success can’t be planned for

That’s honestly refreshing. Gaming companies think that people have to play their game constantly, and that’s such a weird take. Who watches the same movie every day without watching something else in between?

I remember halo Infinite thought they were going to be the next game to do that, like destiny. No, it’s okay to put down a game and walk away. I don’t care about how many season passes you have or other garbage to try and get me addicted. I’ll play it sometimes, other times I won’t.

Not to mention there is no admin anymore, it’s essentially a sudo style with it popping up asking are you sure.

This though really reeks of their son dragged and dropped their old files onto a new computer and didn’t set the NTFS permissions, and purposely set them up as a non admin so they wouldn’t bother them with “I got a new virus”. When I have an elderly relative ask for me to set up their computer I don’t give them admin rights

I think that’s great! There’s no thing that works universally. My suggestion for parental controls was more, hey this is the ambare minimum, it’s 5 minutes of setting it up, just so it rather than blaming games.

Every console and PC has parental controls that limit screen time. It’s 100% on parents if they don’t set it up.

Or, do what my mom did and take it away. I hated her for it, but I admit 20 years later that that was called parenting.
