This article felt weirdly exploitative to me. Like, leave the young woman alone to heal in peace.

Totally agreed. “Let’s describe her physical appearance multiple times in detail while only mildly blurring her photos” Seems like they are reaching for content.

And whether or not she’s wearing makeup in every picture. Very strange article.

It’s kind of amazing they managed to grab a 15 year old out of a crowded stadium. The fact that they’re doing that is newsworthy. More details on the grabbing part would have been helpful (but also likely embarrassing).

Educate your kids on what to do in situations like this.

Agreed. Most people think this sort of trafficking isn’t possible in the US, so they are woefully unprepared to recognize a potential kidnapping before it’s too late.

The parents are sharing these images for the first time ever, because they say their daughter wants her story heard. They say she is just not ready to do it herself.

Exactly. It’s salaciousness dressed up as a caring story. And why the fuck would they release the name and breed of the puppy!? Let the young woman have some fucking privacy.

This article tells you absolutely nothing about how the victim was freedom from sex trafficking. Really empty of any meaningful content other than “a girl was sec trafficked starting at a sports stadium, then was recovered by police, now she has a puppy”

She was found by a Private Investigator based on a picture from an ad selling her services. It’s in the story, makes me sick just typing this.

Seriously. Nothing about how she was taken, how she was recovered, etc. This feels like an article written by a failed Dateline writer.

The Morrises say their daughter is sad about what happened to her but also strong. She does not have a victim’s mentality. And she is not angry.

Ugh… That sounds pretty toxic. People who use the phrase “victim mentality” often dismiss feelings of sadness and anger. The range of emotions this young woman is feeling must be vast and likely include anger.

It’s not clear from the “article” (really just a description of photos) whether she is getting professional help or not but I hope so.

Victim Mentality is meant to refer to people adopting a victim narrative without anything having actually been done to them, see for example all the wailing and crying the south did about Lincoln coming for their slaves and provoking the civil war before the man even took office.

I remember reading about this when it happened but I didn’t know how the suspects pulled it off in a basketball game. How were the suspects able to get her out of the stadium without using force?
