They’re not made by Motorola (which is Chinese). They were made by Gold Apollo (which is Taiwanese).

To be specific, the original Motorola company split into Motorola Mobility, which is owned by Lenovo and sells phones, and Motorola Solutions, which is American, sells telecommunications systems, and definitely does work with Israel.

This was a really hard lesson for Hezbollah to learn to always buy shit from certified anti-imperialist sources and not from fake China. China should airlift Huawei devices to Hezbollah to replace them.

On the other hand, the Axis of Resistance has never had a better excuse to annihilate Israel in response.

This is the kind of thing that should motivate every nerd to realize that they do have something to contribute to the revolution even if it seems small at first. Help with opsec and infosec! Orgs are busy thinking about other things! They will be safer if you help them decrease their attack surface.

This wasn’t need shit. This was a supply chain attack. Most people saw supply chain attacks as pure cyber - backdoors, remote listening, etc. This is the first supply chain attack I know of that added lethality. This is something every organization is going to look for on all electronics shipments now.

If you are supplying thousands of devices to an org the first thing you should do is verify the supply chain / your infosec around the ordering process and then disassemble some when they arrive. All it requires is a screwdriver and a spudger at most. Personally, I would have been looking out for recording devices or GPS devices, but you would also discover the bomb material if you did this.

It was made in Europe, not Taiwan. Also, the KMT doesn’t represent Taiwan. They are literally immigrants to Taiwan and are referred to as such there.

Just to be safe, don’t buy western tech. That in itself would be good revenge. Bankrupt the assholes. Oh you sanctioned Huawei, watch no one buy your tech because of crazy rumors that should be spread even if they are false about western tech.

There’s a mission in the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic in which an Imperial character can place explosives inside handheld communicators being used by resistance fighters – following through with the plan gives you lots of Dark Side morality points.

And then if you go Light Side on that mission, the guy reveals that civillian casualties is the point. Kinda eerie.

Star Wars also came to my mind when thinking about this whole thing. It’s something that could come straight from the mind of Darth Sidious.

I’ve been trying to find details about this on the internet. Do you have more specifics that I can look up somewhere?

It’s just a small side mission, so it’s not well-documented. The Dark Side choice is to put explosives in the comm units in order to kill civilians; the Light Side choice is to sabotage grenades in order to only kill resistance soldiers. It’s a mission only for characters aligned with the Sith Empire, so even the “good” choice is pretty shitty.

I don’t even know what to say. Just thinking about the amount of planning going into this terrorism.

Considering Tel Aviv isn’t actually at war with Lebanon this is just an act of genuine insanity. They just created a whole new generation of adversaries by dragging in so many civillians.

For reference, due to the inefficiency of cellphones and computers, especially near extremely sensitive equipment and in hospitals with many floors that block wifi signals, pagers are the standard communication devices in hospitals.

I have no doubt that hundreds of the casualties reported were nurses, doctors, and EMTs.

In a vaccum, putting aside everything else that Isreal has done, this should be grounds for a complete embargo of Isreal. Why should any country trust a rogue nation that puts bombs in products that arr circulated throughout the civilian population?

Jokingly a kinda serious, sad answer - because de facto colonies can’t just freely decide stuff like this without consequences. And other superpowers like China just don’t yet get targeted that significantly to outweigh the commercial benefits of overall trades.
