There was some misogyny involved in Clinton’s loss, but she had a special kind of misogyny attached to her that was built up over years. The fallout from the affair Bill had really kind of splashed back on Clinton, she wasn’t just hated by misogynist men, she illicited a ton of internalized misogyny from conservative women as well, in part because of the way she presented herself after it came to light.

Harris doesn’t have any of that baggage. At this point I think Trump has hoovered up the vast majority of misogynists and bigots already. Most people at this point likely don’t care.

That’s a lie though, the data we have literally says the opposite. Which is why all the party power players are in favor of Biden shuffling off.

Polls have her doing better than Biden. You could do worse than running a woman when abortion is on the ballot (and by worse I mean, for example, a catholic who’s visibly queasy about actually supporting bodily autonomy). She also gets you back the anti-genocide vote, and she’s responsible for a lot of Biden’s support among black Americans.

Older generations have entrenched themselves in institutional power, they cling to it to their very last breath. Whether it’s democratic power, corporate power, media etc.

Having two old fucks like Trump and Biden slap-fighting for the throne is the ultimate manifestation of that effort.

Except the numbers we have don’t support what you’re saying. Biden is down 8-10 points versus Trump, while Harris (the most realistic nominee) is up, beating Trump by around 3 points.

All the evidence points to Biden as being an all but certain loss, and replacing him being the best shot democrats have.

Biden was not democratically elected to run again, he’s simply the incumbent and the primary was literally canceled in many states. So we’re past any arguments about whether replacing him is democratic or not, if anything the pressure from the polling is a democratic pressure, it’s a reflection of how people are actually feeling in the abscence of being able to actually express that with a vote.

Biden needs to step down if he wants Democrats to win. If he genuinely doesn’t care about anyone but himself, he’ll run.

I’m not sure if it’s different per instance, but in lemmy.world instance you go out to the feed and scroll to the bottom. You can search by user name and such.

Should be distilling that though, to rid it of salt and parasites.

No one’s voting for Trump, he’s extremely unpopular and there are no more voters left for him to convince at this point, he’s scraped together all the racists and nazis and traitors. And regardless of that, Biden is still trailing him by ten points. He’s that unfit.

If he runs, he will lose. It doesn’t matter how you feel about the genocide or how much you want to blame the “left”, Biden simply can’t win and he’s not stepping aside so that’s him handing Trump a victory. He’s the only one with the power to avoid crisis.

The Republicans are literally talking about trying to sue if Biden steps down, that’s how much they want him to run.
