Tankies will tell you that because he was never seen or heard from again, that means that the Chinese government set him up with a nice retirement package and he lived happily ever after!

Tankies will tell you that he was blocking the tanks from leaving so they had to turn around and kill a bunch of students instead. So he’s actually the villain.
