There’s a bunch of “same picture with text box” comics that have been out for a while.
Dinosaur Comics as an early internet example.
Many daily newspaper strips even earlier.
I would watch broadcast TV again if all the commercials were just some dude popping up to say he saw a really cool bird today or something like that.
I swear, I’ve seen a bunch of ads on YouTube recently that ended up just being random meme videos someone made in their bedroom and then paid to have play as an ad. There’s no product or service ever mentioned, not even a link to the advertiser’s channel on YT or TikTok. Just a funny skit.
I once saw a nonsensical Gmod video played as an ad. (It’s a bit loud.)
